Reach Out programme objectives

The Reach Out programme objects are:

  • Provide in-depth, quality and accessible information on mental health issues for young people
  • Provide signposts to appropriate sources of support for young people going though a tough time
  • Develop a positive online community that promotes mental health and well-being, ¬†offering support to young people that need it
Young people have told us that:

  • They often want to explore sensitive issues anonymously rather than face-to-face
  • They want simple, relevant and meaningful information that speaks to them in ways they understand
  • They want that information 24 hours a day via a medium they feel comfortable with
Young people on Reach Out are currently looking for information on:

  • depression and mental health
  • friends and relationships
  • school and college
  • alcohol and drugs
  • family issues
  • sex and pregnancy
  • sexuality and coming out
  • loss and grief
  • eating habits and feeling healthy
